Safe in the City

In 2013 the issue of safety on London’s roads hit the headlines when six cyclists died in just three weeks, after horrific collisions with heavy goods lorries. Thirteen cyclists were fatally injured in 2014 and by June this year the death toll for 2015 stood at eight.

With this in mind and as part of our commitment towards achieving FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Silver standard accreditation, we recently sent the Brown & Carroll Transport department (Chris, Tony, Mick, Paul and Richard) on a Safe Urban Driving Course in the City.

Our LGV drivers swapped the relative safety of their lorry cabs for push bikes, to gain an insight of London’s busy roads and traffic from a cyclists’ perspective. Designed to enhance their interaction with all road users, the ultimate aim is always towards making London’s Roads safer for all of us that use them.
