Dan

Dan joined Brown & Carroll in 2007, having completed work experience at another local construction firm. With a growing interest in carpentry and joinery, he sent his CV to us and we welcomed him as an apprentice.

Dan completed his studies at Barking & Dagenham College, coming to us on day-release to build his technical skills. He worked hard to develop his techniques and knowledge as quickly as he could, working both in the workshop at our factory and onsite on various London projects.

After completing his NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry, Dan progressed to a Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment. Ever ready to learn more, he then embarked on a further two years of study for his Level 4 HNC Diploma in Construction.

Today, Dan manages a team of 11 as the JPQC Senior Co-ordinator, ensuring all the joinery is pulled together, organised and ready to go to site as soon as it’s needed.

“There’s something really special about this place. First off, the facilities are incredible, as are the tools we’re supplied with and our own personal working spaces. The days can be very intense and there’s a high volume of work. But despite that, there’s always a healthy atmosphere and we get the support of every department.

“Life at Brown & Carroll is organised chaos, with early starts, short tea breaks and long working days! But I wouldn’t work anywhere else. When I think about why I’ve stayed, it’s all about the past, present and future.

“The past, because my past ten years here have been really good and I’ve learned so much. The present, because my job is my life now, and I’m really enjoying it. And the future, because this company has grown so much – and continues to grow – I’d be foolish not to want to be a part of it.”
