Fitting out London's finest buildings
Our latest donation of trees to Abberton Reservoir, includes 12 mature trees, such as Oak and Silver Birch, and 2,164 saplings and protective tree guards.
On 18 December 2021, we went along to Abberton with a class of sixth-form students from the James Hornsby School. This was the first planting session and there were further planting sessions in January 2022.
“So far, we have sponsored more than 20,000 trees, bushes and hedging plants at Abberton. It’s always great when we get to go back and see how they’re doing and the difference they’re making.”

Abberton Reservoir is a wetland site of international importance for wildfowl, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a Ramsar site. Run by the Essex Wildlife Trust, up to 40,000 ducks, swans and geese visit each year and it is home to skylarks, brown hares, common terns and goldeneye, to name but a few.
“The tree whips, bamboo canes and cardboard trees guards funded by Brown & Carroll have allowed us to stop using plastic tree guards on our site. And in low-browsing areas we’re trailing using no tree guards at all. This helps reduce our plastic usage and make future tree planting more sustainable,”
