Woodberry Wetlands Resevoir

London Wildlife Trust have created an exciting new urban wetland, using a reservoir which is now open to the public for the first time since it was constructed in 1833.

Over 200 years the site has developed into a hidden wildlife haven home to birds such as reed bunting, song thrush, kingfisher and the occasional bittern, and provides valuable foraging and roosting habitat for bats.

Woodberry Wetlands opened to public access in Spring 2016, offering the opportunity for people to enjoy nature in the heart of East London. Carefully designed boardwalks and a visitor centre provide public access, whilst minimising disturbance to wildlife.

To complete the habitat construction, LWT needed to plant a linear native hedgerow alongside the boardwalk to protect and enhance the habitat for the unique wildlife at the site.

For this Brown & Carroll sponsored the planting of 650 units of hedgerow and tree whips and dedicated the planting to long-term partner, Overbury.
