We asked them how it went.
Louise: “It was lovely to attend Overbury’s Women in Construction event in Canary Wharf. It was interesting to hear from Kathryn Thomas (Head of International for Real Estate Services) and Yasmin AI-Ani Spence (Director at Wilkinson Eyre Architects) about their involvement in a Canary Wharf project, as well as the different teams and ideas needed to make the refurbishment happen. We enjoyed networking with a range of women who were from a variety of different companies involved in the
project. Thank you to Overbury for hosting us.”
Tammy: “The breakfast meeting was a very friendly and positive experience, and we got to meet some really nice people. Listening to Kathryn & Yasmin talking about working together and with others on such a massive retrofit – the largest in Europe – was fascinating. Commitment to sustainability and environmental standards really is at the forefront, which has made many companies involved in the project develop cleaner and safer ways of working, which is fantastic. It will be an amazing place
once completed.”
The event not only celebrated the hugely important contribution of women to the construction industry, but it also raised money for Solace Women’s Aid in Tower Hamlets, as well as for the Hackney Children & Baby Bank. Thank you to Louise and Tammy for attending!
