Investing inmodern machinery

This year, we have continued to invest in equipment that makes our work both more efficient and safe.
In our main joinery shop, we have a new edge bander. This machine bonds lipping to a substrate and can be used with adhesive which supports our projects VOC compliance requirements.

Beam saw and smart benches.
We’ve also invested in a new beam saw. When using traditional beam saws, operatives have to push and guide panels to a fixed blade. Our new machine has a moveable blade, while an air cushion table makes it easier to feed panels into the cutting area. This makes work quicker, less demanding and safer. We’re also planning to invest in vacuum lifters to lift panels onto the machine bed. This will almost eliminate the need for manual handling.

We’ve also invested in smart benches for use in the joinery shop. These are highly configurable and can be moved easily on heavyduty castors. A system of holes and ratchet clamps also allows operatives to clamp work pieces in almost any position, while a groove around the edge of the bench means they can clamp items from the sides. One member of the team has made a vice adaptor for those who prefer to use one!

A modern press brake
Finally the metalwork department has also benefited from a new press brake for bending sheet metal and metal plate. Equipped with a touch screen, the new machine automates each job and delivers highly accurate results.
