George, Mayfair W1

A haven for well-heeled dog-lovers, George offers a strongly canine theme in its décor and even features paintings by David Hockney.

A club fit for the next generation

George is one of London’s newer private members’ clubs. Founded in 2001, it offers a much more relaxed and less formal setting than the long-established clubs of St James’s and Pall Mall. In January 2021, Brown & Carroll began a major refurbishment project at George. The owners had bought a shop neighbouring the club and wanted to increase floor space by a third. Having re-opened in June 2023, George has now been sympathetically reimagined for the decades to come, complete with exceptional paintings by David Hockney.

Exceptional materials and workmanship

We were entrusted with a major package of works that included everything from lowering the basement to increase room height, right through to making and supplying bespoke furniture, from banquettes to elegant tables. We worked with exquisite materials to create a high-end and relaxing ambience. From creating a solid brass circular bar, through to installing intricate mosaics and stained glass, we made sure everything was pitch perfect. The exterior of the club now has the largest outdoor terrace in Mayfair, framed by wooden panels and miniature hedges.

George is the perfect alternative to the more traditional London club – we’re proud to have used our skills to create such a magical ambience for its members.
