As you may know, over the last four years we’ve been establishing an in-house upholstery department to bolster the quality of services we offer our clients. Over the last four years, Brown & Carroll FABRIC has worked on prestigious projects in major cities in the UK and abroad, including Annabel’s in London – one of the most elegant clubs in the world.
Thanks to our fully fitted workshop and specialist team, we have full control over the quality of the upholstery we produce while being able to turn round projects fast. This often reduces the overall time spent on our fit-out projects, resulting in cost savings for our clients.
Let’s meet the people behind this vital part of our business!
Craig has over 35 years’ experience in the upholstery trade and ran his own business for 22 of them. A hugely talented upholsterer, he takes care of the day-to-day running of the department and makes sure all elements of a project are completed on time, to spec and to the highest possible standard. He makes connections with new suppliers and is always on the lookout for environmentally friendly materials where possible. As Department Manager he’s also responsible for his team’s welfare and for creating a happy working environment in which everyone can thrive and work to the best of their abilities.
Tamera has also spent over 35 years in the upholstery trade, working as a sewing machinist. She’s a natural problem solver and excels when confronted with tricky and detailed projects. Add to this her great organisational skills and she’s a perfect fit for the coordinator role. Tamera has a very varied role that includes liaising with our design team, sourcing samples for approval and obtaining fire certifications for materials used in all projects. She also keeps her upholstery skills sharp with pattern making, fabric cutting and sewing by machine and hand.
Graham’s worked in all aspect of the upholstery trade over the last three decades and ensures that every project consistently meets our exceptionally high standards. His role includes pattern making, fabric cutting and all aspects of preparing upholstered furniture. Along with Tamera, he assists in training our trainee, Maria.
Claudiu is a talented upholsterer with a wealth of experience in the commercial seating sector. His role includes fabric cutting, and careful preparation of upholstered furniture including applying fabric and leather.
Maria has just finished the second year of a three-year upholstery course at London Metropolitan University. A keen learner, she pays attention to detail and makes a valuable contribution to our very active commercial upholstery department. She’s progressing well within the team and undertakes many different aspects of upholstery preparation, applies leather and fabrics to most items and is learning to use sewing machinery. Every member of the team gives her vital input which helps her to hone her skills.
