Fitting out London’s finest buildings
In spring 2018, the club relocated from 44 to 46 Berkeley Square, reopening in a 26,000 sq ft Georgian townhouse. Brown & Carroll delivered the original fitout across five floors and 17 individually designed rooms.
The Rose Room was the first room to be reworked since the move.
Originally created as a dining room, the space was changed into a more relaxed lounge and bar. The aim was to give members somewhere to sit before or after dining elsewhere in the club, while reflecting a new aspect of the opulent aesthetic associated with Annabel’s.
Working to plans by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, Brown & Carroll’s remit centred on the bespoke furniture and upholstery that would help change the room’s purpose and atmosphere.
The pieces included purpose-made tub chairs, stools, banquettes, sofas and cushions, along with coffee tables that we sourced. Together, they helped transform the room into a delightfully informal place to sit, drink and relax.
The furniture was made by our upholsterers over around six months. The specified materials included silks, mohairs and velvets, which we carefully procured.
The result is an elegant and sumptuous room in which the upholstery plays a central role.
One of the main challenges was the installation programme.
With the club still operating, Brown & Carroll had just one day to complete the furniture changeover. The team started at midnight and finished by noon, allowing the Rose Room to reopen with minimal disruption to members.
The Rose Room has been well received by members, who now use it as a more relaxed place to meet, drink and unwind in this highly prestigious district of west London.
