A landmark 50-storey tower in central London

Our work brought both innovation and craftsmanship to the interior of one of the UK’s newest iconic buildings. We were originally contracted to create and install timber and metal doors throughout the building, along with timber-slatted ceilings in the main reception area and lobbies. We were then asked to provide a wide range of additional joinery, bespoke furniture and amenities. In the main reception area, we designed and created modernist, organically sculpted seating. These single piece elements were shaped over a structural frame. We commissioned complex 3D veneering, enabling us to use eye-catching oak graining to accentuate the shape of each seat. The result was functional, inviting seating that draws inspiration from nature and transforms it into art.

Innovative use of materials

The focal point of the reception area is a 3D-veneered circular reception desk, complementing the flowing seating for visitors. Veneered in walnut, we devised a highly innovative and technically demanding process to create this welcoming centrepiece. The slat ceiling above was made of sweet chestnut, adding more natural tones to the room’s ambience. The mezzanine floor, panelled in glass, adds visual interest while adding to the clean and elegant sense of space. Other areas we worked on included the Think Tank auditorium, where we provided a reception desk, lectern, stage and seating. In the restaurant on level 26 we helped create the main servery, an island bar and feature ceiling, banquette seating and a library wall. Up in the viewing gallery (‘The Lookout’) on level 50, we installed Oberflex timber ceilings and walls, a reception desk and a pavilion bar.

“We are very proud to have contributed to the creation of what is believed to be the most sustainable speculative tall commercial scheme in the UK."
