Fitting out London’s finest buildings
Aren’t these imaginative creations fantastic? They were made by the children at Reay Primary School in London, as part of the Architecture in Schools programme.
We were more than happy to help with the event, which was run by Open City and supported by architects Orms. From the photos it looks like there is some promising design talent on the horizon.
We made and donated the wooden cube frames that the children used in their designs. The children’s brief was to create their very own Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, as the park is adjacent to their school. Designs included a Talking Tree, to inform people about the environment, a Mushroom Café, which used home grown mushrooms and a Hot Air Balloon ride.
“Having the cubes really enabled the children to think about scale and how their buildings could be structurally supported. So thank you for taking the time to make them for us,” said Laura Noble, Architect at Orms.
