Doing our best to minimise the impact that our business has on the environment is really important to us.
That’s why we’re really proud of our Spray Shop Manager, Tony Connor, who researched and implemented a paint solvent recovery system. The system uses a distillation process that separates the solvent from the leftover paint, which would otherwise go to waste. The separated solvent is then recovered for re-use.
This environmental initiative has increased our solvent recovery to 98% and the residual waste is now non-hazardous. It has also greatly reduced the Health & Safety risk of having solvents on site before they’re disposed of.
In July, members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) came to visit our factory and they saw the innovative idea that Tony had installed. Now, the paint solvent recovery system has been placed on the CCS Best Practice Hub; an online resource that showcases examples of innovation and best practice, throughout the UK and Irish construction industries.
