When a prestigious global mining group decided to relocate to a new global HQ in London, we teamed up with leading design practice HASSELL to convert their very clear and detailed vision into true buildability. Central to the whole vision was a celebration of the mining company’s origins through a raw, earthy architectural feel, juxtaposed with refined luxury.

Going the extra mile for that very special effect

To realise the very specific vision at the centre of this project, this eight-storey fit out needed exactly the right materials. These included stunning Douglas Fir joinery and panelling, hot-rolled steel panelling with a specialist powder coating for exactly the right visual effect, polished concrete units, and marble and copper surrounds. We helped select veneers from Germany, and even took a day trip to Italy to comb ten Italian stone yards for the perfect types of marble – Noir St Laurent and Calacatta Gold.

Superior quality and exquisite detailing on every floor

Luxurious yet raw, exquisite yet earthy, our joinery brings the design to life on every floor. The reception area features a stone-clad desk and storage wall with steel and polished copper. The lower ground-floor restaurant includes bespoke upholstered seating and 90 individually cast, polished concrete servery units. The fourth-floor boardroom incorporates marble surrounds and an AV wall, while presentations are held in the second-floor Piano Nobile under a magnificent, Douglas Fir-veneered herringbone ceiling.

"Brown & Carroll demonstrated a clear understanding of this intricate joinery package and the required budget. The end result was fantastic with a very high quality of finish."
