This Spring we’ve been back to Vange Primary School in Basildon, to see how the trees we planted in 2018 are getting on.
Mike Pearson, who heads up our sustainability programme, was shown around by Head Teacher, Liz Keeble.
“Despite a few trees suffering from the strong winds and dry winter, the majority we planted are doing well. It was lovely to see how the trees are beginning to form the base of an enchanted forest. Later this year, we’ll be back to help plant hedgerow walkways and borders for the different themed areas of the forest,” said Mike.
We’re really proud to part of a long-term project like this. It’s about creating a usable space for the community, which will last for years to come. Liz has other plans for the site too, involving outdoor sports facilities and an activity area. We hope more funding will be available for this in the future and look forward to seeing the enchanted forest as it continues to grow.
