In 2014, we donated and planted our first batch of trees and hedging at Abberton Reservoir. Roll on five years and we’ve organised the supply and planting of over 30,000 trees and hedgerow plants across eight sites. As a business that uses and relies on natural resources, this is a scheme which is extremely important to us.
Mike Pearson, our Senior QUESH Manager, is responsible for implementing the director-led Time for Trees scheme, and has been on hand with some of the planting too. He recently visited Abberton, where it all began, to see how the latest 5,800 saplings, are getting on.
“It was great to see how well the trees and hedgerows are doing at Abberton. Not only the most recent ones, but I got to see how our donations over the last five years have made a difference. A total of more than 26,000 plants now, which is fantastic.”
The scheme has also been supported with donations by some of our suppliers, and some sites are dedicated to our clients including; Overbury, ISG, Mace, Berkley Homes and Canary Wharf.
As our business continues to grow, we remain passionate about doing business in a sustainable way; our world is the only one we’ve got after all. Our commitment to planting trees will continue and we’re looking for additional sites in London and Essex to support in the future.
