Saint Teresa‘s church in Rochford ran a successful cafe in the church narthex for two years until health and safety inspectors closed it down because facilities were not up to standard. Children from nearby Saint Teresa’s school and their parents, many locals and the elderly who all used the café, were crestfallen. Mary, a parishioner said “My one outing a week to meet friends has been taken away.”
The parish was particularly disappointed because building a kitchen to the required standards was simply out of reach financially. What they didn’t know was that help was at hand in one of its newest parishioners, Terry Burke, who works for Brown and Carroll. Terry told MD Paul Carroll of the parish’s plight, and he was very happy to supply and fit the brand-new kitchen free of charge!
